I really must get round to reading that copy of Cover Her Face too, but as ever, I've far too many other books to get through...Nick Jones (Louis XIV, the Sun King)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17716508525331235684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5448581132479481740.post-6453508629152532342011-10-28T10:56:11.162-04:002011-10-28T10:56:11.162-04:00I used to have access to all the British newspaper...I used to have access to all the British newspapers and most of the big American ones and was an inveterate clipper for a long time. Usually I'd harvest so much stuff that I had to put the clippings in folders and not keep them in the books. That was probably for the best cause sometimes clippings will discolor a book over time.

I had to toss out a lot of the clippings because of a lack of space to keep them. And I thought it would make me look like less of a hoarder. (But is it really hoarding if you focus on one subject?) I have a few folders of clippings left and whenever I look through one it is astonishing how our newspapers (or the arts and culture sections) have declined. So many are gone. Its like looking at an old class photo and realizing how many classmates are dead.

I, too, have only seen Children of Men and not read the book. I remember when the book came out, I thought it sounded interesting but I dismissed it because it was written by a mystery novelist. Doing so seemed to make sense at the time. Now, I know it was silly.Book Gluttonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14569975755798562829noreply@blogger.com
