I think I'd go for Neutron Star; it's the one I've enjoyed most.Nick Jones (Louis XIV, the Sun King)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17716508525331235684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5448581132479481740.post-12718196785980768702018-06-08T20:36:38.266-04:002018-06-08T20:36:38.266-04:00Last year I discovered Larry Niven's sci-fi st...Last year I discovered Larry Niven's sci-fi stories about Gil Hamilton and tracked them down because most of them had an impossible crime or locked room angle. I decided to read a full length novel first but loathed it. It was the worst kind of mixture of sci-fi and 70s sleaze. Maybe if I had read the book when I was still in high school I would have found it exciting and "hot", but a book that devotes pages and pages to describing women's breasts and the sexual prowess of the hero is extremely boring to me now. I never finished it and decided to read the novellas in LONG ARM... They're much better. The also helped explain the whole organlegger thing which was pretty much just skimmed over in the novel.<br /><br />The novel, BTW, is called THE PATCHWORK GIRL. The edition I read, a US trade paperback, was heavily illustrated; it might have appeal to you since you're involved in the graphic novel/comics world.J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5448581132479481740.post-17113530639050184162018-06-07T11:53:53.585-04:002018-06-07T11:53:53.585-04:00If we had the time and attention span to read only...If we had the time and attention span to read only one of Niven's Known Space, which would you recommend?OlmanFeelyushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17521657876810568251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5448581132479481740.post-13574655431359495922018-06-07T10:08:15.389-04:002018-06-07T10:08:15.389-04:00I have a few Larry Niven books on my shelves that ...I have a few Larry Niven books on my shelves that need reading.
