Glad you enjoyed the posts!...My pleasure, Margaret. Glad you enjoyed the posts! On reflection I think they might have got a little shrill, especially this one, but no matter. I stand by 'em.

Until I change my mind, that is...Nick Jones (Louis XIV, the Sun King)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17716508525331235684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5448581132479481740.post-6766216295307500932011-05-30T06:14:36.584-04:002011-05-30T06:14:36.584-04:00(Now I'm off to read more of your blog!)(Now I'm off to read more of your blog!)Margarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15456006889868172386noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5448581132479481740.post-36693426066685850332011-05-30T06:13:25.638-04:002011-05-30T06:13:25.638-04:00Thanks so much for these reviews of the TV series,...Thanks so much for these reviews of the TV series, which I just stumbled upon in my quest to answer my question: "Is it worth investing time in the adaptations, since I enjoy the books so much." I'd watched the beginning of Sleepyhead, but hadn't reached the point at which the storylines veered so dramatically.

While I'm aware of the need for screenwriters, for a variety of reasons, changing aspects of the original story, there are limits. And from what I've read here, those limits have been utterly transgressed. The Scaredy Cat resolution sounds appalling and utterly undercuts the brilliant portrayal of the dynamics of a folie à deux in the novel.

One aspect of the adaptation of Sleepyhead I did like, however, was the casting of more ethnically diverse actors than the characters in the book.

Thanks again.Margarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15456006889868172386noreply@blogger.com
